Ratings: ‘K-E-Z’ remains #1 even after Santa left town

| RADIO |

Despite losing more than half its audience share after ending the steady diet of Christmas tunes, “K-E-Z” continued to be the most popular radio station in metro Phoenix, according to the latest Nielsen Audio ratings. Every other station in the top 10 gained listeners as the Christmas bounty was redistributed to more typical levels.

KSLX, the pre-holiday champ, remained in the runner-up spot. KNIX and “La Campesina” showed the biggest gains, each up more than a full ratings point — rare under normal circumstances. The country legend climbed to #3 while the Regional Mexican station jumped to #6 from a #13 tie last time.

Also moving into the top 10 were KTAR and “Kiss FM.” They displaced “The Mountain” (KYOT),”K-Jazz” (KJZZ) and “Alt AZ” (KDKB), now at #11, #12 and #13, respectively.

Well below the top 10, “Arizona Gold” (KAZG) nearly doubled its small audience and climbed to #27. The station bills itself as “The Valley’s only oldies station” and plays hits from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s that KOOL used to feature.
