Ratings: ‘The Mountain’ reaches the summit

For the first time ever, “The Mountain” is the most popular radio station in metro Phoenix, decisively knocking off perennial champ “K-E-Z,” according to the latest Nielsen Audio ratings. That’s about as rare as snow in Cave Creek (which also happened during this period).

Kiss FM” moved up a notch in the rankings despite dipping in audience share, thanks to KSLX inexplicably losing more than a full rating point. That’s about as rare as snow on the McDowell Mountains (wasn’t that a pretty sight?).

Otherwise, the top tier stations remained fairly stable. “K-Jazz” experienced a healthy gain in audience share for the second straight book and moved into the top 10.

The three stations tied at #10 last time all dropped: talker KTAR fell to #11; “La Sauvectia” (KVVA) is now tied at #13; and “Camel Country” (KMLE) is in a three-way tie at #15 with “Alt AZ” (KDKB) and “Hot” (KMVA), which generated an unusually large gain in audience share and climbed from #19.
