‘K-E-Z’ dominates, even without holiday hits

K-E-Z” was again the most popular station in metro Phoenix, despite losing more than half of its audience share since the end of its all-Christmas music programming.

As a result, “K-E-Z” ‘s inflated holiday audience was redistributed among stations, with the biggest beneficiaries being “The Mountain” (#3), KUPD (#5) and “La Suavecita” (#10 tie), according to the latest radio ratings from Nielsen Audio.

Within the top 10, all stations gained audience share or held steady except “Mix” (#7), KOOL (#8) and “Camel Country” (#10 tie). “Kiss FM” (#4) fell in the rankings despite inching up in audience share. KTAR and “La Suavecita” climbed into the top 10 thanks to a three-way tie.

How powerful was the fallout from Santa leaving town? Below the top tier, only three others of the 39 monitored signals failed to gain audience share from the previous “Holiday” period:  classic hits KOAI (“The Oasis”) at #22, rhythmic top 40 KNRJ (“The Beat”) at #29, and Spanish hits KQMR (“Latino Mix”) at #30.
